Songbird Hills wishes to thank all of the golfers who participated in the 11th Annual Club Championship and wish a hearty congratulations to all of the winners!
Thankfully, the weather for the weekend turned out to be nicer than what our trusty weather forecasters predicted!

It was a close competition right from the start in the Men's Championship Flight. The leaderboard after Day 1 was topped by Tim Ver Voort and Steve Evan, who each posted 74's.
Steve Evan followed his 74 with another great round, 75, to claim the title of 2006 Men's Club Champion. Tim Ver Voort finished 3 strokes back at 152, followed by James Grogan in 3rd place with a 154 total.

There were 13 golfers in the A-Flight who were only separated by 4 strokes - the tightest competition ever at Songbird! That was not to be the case for Round 2 though. Only 2 golfers played as well as, or better than, their first round scores. Jason Bergum, this year's A-Flight Champion, fired rounds of 83 and 83 for a 166 total, while 2nd place finisher, Ron Brown, came in 5 strokes back with a 171. Wayne Haase finished in 3rd, prevailing in a scorecard playoff, with a 175 total score.

1st Place in the Men's B-Flight went to Leif Hauge. Leif's total of 174 narrowly edged out 2nd place winner, Dan Grogan, who had 175. Bob Hoople's 177 total was good enough for third place honors.

It goes without saying that individuals are capable of dominant performances. However, Carol Koopman's dominance in the Ladies Club Championship over the past SEVEN years is truly remarkable. Carol put on a 'Tiger'-esque performance, finishing 22 strokes (yes, twenty-two!) ahead of 2nd place finisher, Cathy Kroeger. The race for second place was a lot closer than the race for the Championship this year. Marge Dethloff took home 3rd place honors by edging out Holly Rehberg in a playoff.
